What is a Peace Place? A Peace Place is a designated area of a room where children can be taught self regulation skills. The goal is for them to eventually learn how to self regulate using the items that are provided. With consistent modeling from a therapist or a guardian, children learn how to use certain tools to help them create a safe place in their home. Items that we provide consist of items like a bean bag chair, body pillow, weighted blanket, breathing ball, journal, calming scents and more. Our focus for this project is for kids of all ages. We typically donate these items to the children who are working with therapists from local foster care agencies or to families that are committed to modeling how to use the items as self regulation tools that we provide.
